2008 Ford Mustang ShelBy GT500KR

The Ford Shelby GT500KR, revealed at the 2007 New York International Auto Show, was released in the spring of 2008. The car is powered by a 540 horsepower 5.4-liter supercharged V-8 variation with a Ford Racing Power Upgrade Pack. According to an article in the July 2008 edition of Automobile Magazine, production was limited to 1,000 units in 2008; and the July 2008 edition of Hot Rod Magazine stated that 1,571 will be manufactured in 2009. The Shelby GT500KR features a carbon composite hood with scoops and hood pins, a lowered front air dam, and 14-inch Brembo brand front brakes with functional cooling ducts. The suspension has been modified and tuned by Shelby Automobiles and Ford Racing including unique spring rates, dampers, stabilizer bars, and strut tower brace, all designed specifically for the KR. The GT500KR draws on styling features from the classic 1968 "King of the Road" GT500KR model, and the 2008 model includes "40th Anniversary" badging; both years will have silver paint with blue "LeMans" stripes, and Carroll Shelby signature embroidered seats. The GT500KR's price will be $79,995.

The 2008 Ford Focus received many updates compared to the 2007 model year. The 2008 Focus comes in a 2-door coupe and 4-door sedan options. Hatchback and wagon models are no longer available for this year. Three trim lines are available, the S, SE and top of the line SES. The engine is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with a standard 5-speed manual transmission or optional automatic, it is the same 2.0-litre engine as the Mazda 3. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, curtain side airbags, and front side airbags. Also available is Ford Sync in the SE model and standard in the SES model. Other available options are heated seats, leather upholstery and remote engine start.

2008 Ford Fusion

The 2008 Ford Fusion is a mid-size sedan that fits in the Ford sedan lineup between the smaller Ford Focus and the larger Ford Taurus. At 100 cu-ft, the Ford Fusion's passenger volume exceeds that of the Chevrolet Malibu, but is below a Toyota Camry's.

The Ford Fusion comes in three trims: S, SE, and SEL, all of which come powered by a 2.3L 4-cylinder DOHC engine that produces 160 hp and 156 lb-ft, and achieves a gas mileage of 20 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. Optionally available on SE and SEL trims is a more powerful 3.0L 6-cylinder engine with 221 hp and 205 lb-ft of torque. Gas mileage for the V6 is 18 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. All-wheel-drive is available on models with the V6 engine.

The Ford Fusion offers excellent handling from multi-link front and rear suspensions.

Standard features on all models include air con, cloth upholstery, power windows and mirrors, and remote keyless entry. ABS, side-impact airbags, side-curtain airbags, and frontal airbags are standard, as well.

2006 Ford Mustang

Redesigned for 2005, the current-generation Ford Mustang is larger than the prior model and features styling cues that hark back to the 1967 version. Mustangs have a standard V-6 engine, but the GT holds a 300-horsepower V-8. Occupants get more space than in the previous generation. Coupes and convertibles are offered.

A Harley-Davidson branded version of Ford's popular F-150 truck. Features 22-inch polished forged alumninum rims, lots of leather on the interior, and chrome on the exterior. Ford claims to have tuned this truck for a more precise driving experience. Under the hood is a 5.4-liter, 3-valve Triton V-8 featuring a specially tuned exhaust system to help capture the Harley-Davidson rumble.

Simply put, the Ford GT is an all-American supercar that was created in homage to the GT40 racecars that dominated competition at Le Mans in the mid-1960s. The Taurus enters 2006 again available in four models: SE and SEL Sedan, with the SE and SEL Wagons coming later on in the year. After debuting last year, the 2006 Ford Five Hundred sees few changes. Leather upholstery is now available on the base SE model, while the SEL and Limited versions can be outfitted with a Family Entertainment System including a rear seat DVD player. A navigation system is also optional, but only on the top Limited trim level. Silver Birch is the single new color for 2006.

Ford has made considerable updates for the next version of the Explorer Sport Trac, which debuted this year at the Detroit auto show. Now based on the current-generation Explorer platform, it's 2 inches wider and 5 inches longer which should ensure better handling as well as extended cargo space. Storage room will be further increased through a swing-over tubular bed extender as well as a 30-percent augmentation of the cargo bed. Independent rear suspension and Roll Stability Control should also add to the driver's control and safety, while the addition of V8 power should make it more useful for towing.

The Escape returns for 2006 with no major changes after major revisions were made for the 2005 model year. The Escape is available in 10 trim lines: Limited, XLS, XLT 2.3L, XLT 3.0L, and XLT Sport, with either 2WD or 4WD configurations. The Escape compact utility is equipped with a 2.3L engine producing 153-hp and the 200-hp 3.0 V6 on the XLT. The interior includes white-faced gauges, floor mounted gear shifter, and additional storage compartments. Returning to the Escape line-up for 2006 is the XLT Sport trim, which adds unique aluminum wheels, two-tone paint, and black side step bars.

The 2006 Ford Expedition returns with a few changes from the previous model year. The Expedition is available in twelve trim levels: XLS, XLT, XLT Sport, Limited, Eddie Bauer, and King Ranch, with either 2WD or 4WD configurations. Ford's full-size SUV is powered by a 5.4L V-8 engine coupled to a four-speed automatic transmission. Standard equipment on the Expedition includes anti-lock four-wheel disc brakes, speed control, and a front 60/40 split-bench seat with driver's side six-way power adjust. Also standard is privacy glass, fold-away power mirrors with security approach lamps, power door locks, remote keyless entry, automatic headlamps, raised roof rails, and 17-inch steel wheels.

The Freestar returns for 2006 available in four trims: SE, SEL, Limited, and Cargo van models. There are two engines available on the Freestar. The SE and Cargo Van's receive a 3.9L V6 with 193 horsepower and 240 lbs-ft of torque while the SEL and Limited are equipped with a 4.2L V6 producing 201 horsepower and 263 lbs-ft of torque. The 4.2L V6 is the largest engine currently available in a minivan. Another versatile feature is the third row bench seat that folds-away into the floor, leaving a flat cargo compartment. Safety features include the optional three-row front-to-back head protection air bags and standard front and rear disc brakes with ABS. A DVD entertainment system, power adjustable pedals, and AdvanceTrac stability control are also available.

With a revised Dodge Ram on sale for 2006 and a brand-new, Texas-built Toyota Tundra on the horizon, Ford is not taking any chances with its F-150 Pickup this year. A limited-edition F-150 Harley-Davidson model debuts, equipped with rear-wheel-drive or an all-wheel-drive system - a first on an F-150. The Harley truck includes special interior and exterior trim, rich aniline leather upholstery, and 22-inch polished and forged aluminum wheels. Twenty-inch wheels can be ordered for the F-150 FX4, Lariat, and King Ranch this year, and traction control is now available on any 2WD model equipped with a V8 engine.

Ford's compact pickups get only a mild facelift for 2006. Ranger offers regular-cab and extended SuperCab models spanning six trim packages. SuperCabs have two rear fold-down jump seats as standard or optional, depending on trim, and are available with back-hinged rear access doors. Regulars offer 6- and 7-ft cargo beds; SuperCabs use the 6 ft only. Engines comprise a 2.3-liter 4-cyl and 3.0- and 4.0-liter V6s. All use manual or 5-speed automatic transmission and standard rear-wheel drive. V6s also offer 4WD that can't be used on dry pavement but includes low-range gearing. All models come with 4-wheel ABS. Leather upholstery is among the many options. Mazda's B-Series trucks are retrimmed Rangers with a different pricing and features mix. Styling changes for '06 Rangers involve modest revisions to bumpers, grille, fenders, and lights.

2006 Ford E-Series Passenger Van

For 2006, the E-Series Van returns with little changes. The E- Series is available in XL, XLT, and Chateau trims. The XL and XLT models feature a standard eight-passenger seating configuration, while the Chateau model can seat seven passengers with its first and second row captain's chairs configuration. The standard 4.6L V-8 engine and the optional 255-hp 5.4L V-8 are paired to a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. Enhanced comfort, more power and new safety features are the headlines for the 2006 Ford Explorer. Drive this latest Explorer against an earlier version and you'll likely notice that it's quieter and more refined. Ford added additional sound insulation to reduce road noise and revised the Explorer's suspension and frame for improved ride quality. There are other mechanical changes, as well, such as upgraded brakes (now with EBD and brake assist) and a steering rack that reduces the effort required to turn the steering wheel at low speeds.
