Simply put, the Ford GT is an all-American supercar that was created in homage to the GT40 racecars that dominated competition at Le Mans in the mid-1960s. A supercharged, midmounted V-8 produces 550 horsepower, which is roughly equivalent to the output from the original, larger engine that went into competition GT40 cars. A limited-edition model for 2006 commemorates Ford's 1966 victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The E- Series is available in XL, XLT, and Chateau trims. The XL and XLT models feature a standard eight-passenger seating configuration, while the Chateau model can seat seven passengers with its first and second row captain's chairs configuration. The standard 4.6L V-8 engine and the optional 255-hp 5.4L V-8 are paired to a four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. Standard features on the E350 include air conditioning, dual front airbags, tilt steering, and four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes. The Chateau trim upgrades by adding features such as aluminum wheels, a CD stereo, two-tone paint, privacy glass, and remote keyless entry. A rear seat entertainment system is also available.

Enhanced comfort, more power and new safety features are the headlines for the 2006 Ford Explorer. Drive this latest Explorer against an earlier version and you'll likely notice that it's quieter and more refined. Ford added additional sound insulation to reduce road noise and revised the Explorer's suspension and frame for improved ride quality. There are other mechanical changes, as well, such as upgraded brakes (now with EBD and brake assist) and a steering rack that reduces the effort required to turn the steering wheel at low speeds.
