The Marantz DV7001 is advertised as a progressive-scan "universal" DVD player due its wide range of format compatibilities. In addition to being able to upconvert DVDs to 720p, 1080i and 1080p via HDMI, it is also capable of playing DVD-V, DVD-A, SACD, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, SVCD, VCD, CD, CD-R/CD-RW, MP3, WMA, JPEG HD, and DivX disks. It has a 12-bit 216Mhz digital-to-analog converter, as well as DCDi processing and NSV (Noise Shaped Video) processors for video display. Audio-wise, the player has built-in Dolby Prologic II and DTS decoders (though no Dolby Digital decoder). There are component, composite and S-video output, and RCA-analog and 5.1-channel-analog, digital optical and digital coaxial audio output, as well as HDMI.
