How do I upgrade to the latest version of XBMC?  Do I just FTP the latest version and overwright the existing one? if so, then will I lose everything on the xbox or will all settings and everything go unchanged?

You've got it right. You will lose your settings unless you don't backup your settings files and then restore them. (Or you could just not overwrite them when you FTP) I don't have access to my Xbox right now to check, but have a look for the XML settings files in your Dashboard directory or sub-directories.

Thanks Erik,

One more question?  I plan to FTP the new version onto where I had the old version (E:/Dashboard).  I assume that would just overwright what ever is in there.  I am just worried that I will lose all my movies and games that I uploaded to the XBOX.

There is almost no risk of losing your uploaded media. FTP transfers will only overwrite existing files, not delete them. Just don't delete the media files first. Where are you storing your media? I would recommend putting them in a different folder so you have no worries. For example, E:/Media.

I have upgraded my XBMC many (I mean MANY) times in the last three years, and never a problem. I got rid of some shortcuts in my settings once because I was lazy, so ended up just having to type them in again. No biggie.

Hey Eric great Tut, have the 2.0.1 fat version working fine, is it worth upgrading to the latest build?

Thanks for the info. I've been pretty happy with v2.01. I would like to see some new web browser or video streaming (YouTube, etc.) scripts. I know of linksboks and the YouTube scripts, but I'm not that impressed by either of them. I want to use my Xbox to stream viral videos and movies/TV from those grey area video sites.

So do I, does the Youtube work at all, or is it not worth loading?

I found a build by GasGiver and it had a lot of added scrpts so I'm using that one.
