Is it possible with this method to do a larger hard drive, and if so, and tips or links to doing so using this method?

After the mod is installed you can install a larger hard drive. Take care though, that when you go on Live Microsoft stores the Xbox's serial number and HDD serial number. So if you go on Live again after switching the hard drive, they'll notice the difference and ban you good. here's a guide on how to install a new HDD. It's pretty advanced though so make sure you can do it without fritzing your drive. Personally, I see no need for a larger hard drive since I just stream all my media.

We never tested that version, though by the numbering scheme it seems that version would be before the 82262, so it should work. Regardless it doesn't hurt to try, nothing bad will happen, you just won't be able to access the MXM interface. But let us know what the result is, and we'll update the article accordingly.

It fails for me after I do step 6. The light turns orange and then it powers off. I'm stuck. Thanks!

It fails for me after I do step 6. The light turns orange and then it powers off. I'm stuck. Thanks! Just a few questions: Does the system automatically power off? If so, after how long? What happens when you turn your Xbox back on? Can you get back to MXM? Has this Xbox been modified before? What kernel version do you have? Which ltools version are you using?

Thanks for writing this, it's motivating me to actually go buy an X-Box just for this. Question though - Friend of mine that's soft-modded his X-Box is warning me that "The softmods only work on pre-1.6 xbox's, which are getting harder to find." Is this still the case, or do the soft-mods work on all (known) versions of X-Box now? I.E. If I go to the store and buy a brand new X-Box off the shelf and get the other requisite parts, this theoreticall should work, yes? Thank you!

Ok, I've got an install problem: My xBox kernel # is 4034 so I downloaded ltools_MA_v1.7.5.zip. Everything works exactly as described until I get to step 6.2. I select UDE and, after a short time I get the message: Correct update.xbe has not been found. Either install dash 4920,5659 or 5960 or add the update.xbe to the package. Cannot install UDE. Where did I go wrong?

"Correct update.xbe has not been found. Either install dash 4920,5659 or 5960 or add the update.xbe to the package." You have done everything correctly. The problem is that you have an old Xbox dashboard, so you need to upgrade it to 4920, 5659, or 5690 as the message said. To do this, put in a new Xbox game (like Halo 2) into your Xbox and goto the Xbox Live tab. This should initiate the dashboard upgrade.
