it turns out i do have a spare receiver my brother gave me it is a phat ass pioneer VSX D608, here it is; http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/model.asp?modelNum=VSXD608
so i can put the tv and xbox into that, pipe that thru my logitechs z680s (logitech 0wnz!!!!) direct port, go optical with the 360, and have the useless coax port open for nada. What do
yuo think? Is there any danger in doing this?
Thanks

Sorry, I don't use it myself, but I have friends that swear by it. It's actually a collection of emulators and games packaged and available as a torrent download.

What digital inputs does this receiver have? More importantly, does it have digital out? If so, then hook that up to your Logitechs and you are set.

I wouldn't recommend hooking the Logitech speakers directly up to the receiver if that's what you are asking. They might have a low impedance and could easily be overpowered by your receiver's power. (I could be wrong, however, as this has gone beyond my expertise)

Basically, you can use the receiver as a fancy switch if it has a digital out.
