Get Smart

I wasn't expecting much from this movie, a silly comedy romp, but what I got was far worse. The guy is supposed to be a clutz like Inspector Gadget just bumbling around and making hilarious gaffes left and right.  Instead Carrel plays some hybrid between a clutz and a super agent, so one scene he'll be killing guys with ease, and then next he'll do something stupid. It's just annoying because it makes the clutzy scenes appear forced and unnecessary. Oh, and the story was trite and predictable, but that's to be expected.

Wanted

This movie actually surprised me, and disappointed me at the same time. It had the foundations to be a pretty kick-ass movie with flashy and cool action. I mean assassins are already cool, so you have to work hard to make them uncool. Unfortunately, the running theme of "I was once a boring desk jockey now I'm this uber assassin, what have you done with YOUR life?" is so ridiculously overblown and constantly smashed over your head it totally ruins the movie. At least for me it did. If you can look past the lame voice-over then the action is pretty awesome.

HellBoy II

I just saw the movie and I enjoyed it.  It is very much like the 1st one, only funnier.

The movie has great acting, humor, action.  The plot itself is a little blah and I won't spoil it for you, but there is a really easy way they could have defeated the bad guy.  I was waiting for Klauss or the Abe to say it, but it never came.

This isn't a deep movie or anything.  Yet, it is darn good at doing what it is.  It's a summer action flick and Hellboy makes fora  great character.  Here's hoping they don't ruin the 3rd one like they did spiderman3.

The Dark Night

Best superhero movie I've ever seen, but it was still a superhero movie. It reminds me a little of V for Vendetta, but they're hard to compare. Personally, I though the movie had too many climax's, and then the final climax, wasn't as good as the chase down 5th street. But it was still a very good movie. But it was a superhero movie.

The Dark Knight

I agree with dialup that TDK is the best hero movie ever, however I think it transcends the sub-genre and stands along with other classic films. I also didn't feel the movie had the pacing issues that dialup describes, though I do understand where you're coming from... it is quite up and down. Personally, I felt that added to the movie because you think things are done, but the it's like "no no... it aint going to be that easy". I agree that the final joker fight isn't as good of a scene as the 5th street chase. That was just incredible.

Hellboy 2

Chock another recommendation. I pretty much agree entirely with Yaminb. Good clean fun, funny and good action. Maybe not worth a full price theater admission, but if you can catch it in a drive-in double feature or a budget theater then it's not a bad way to spend an evening.

Changed my mind. The Dark Night is really good. I'd say #3 best movie after The Shawshank Redemption (#1) and The Big Lebowski (#2)
