That was Rambo connecting to the internet.  Best part is when his just fires straight up in the air screaming.....

I forgot that Rambo rules.

Cloverfield - This movie is AMAZING. I absolutely loved it. I loved the whole style and the special effects are absolutely insane. It really makes you feel like this is all happening which makes it ridiculously intense. Now it goes without saying - because it's already been said 100 times - the camera IS a shaky mess. I do wish that it was steadier as after the movie I had quite the headache. For some people this will and has been a deal breaker because they just can't stand it. Me, I could stand it, and loved the movie in-spite of it. It's just nuts.

Curse of the Golden Flower - One of the most boring movies ever. Wow. I was expecting some Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon type stuff, but instead I got lame political intrigue. Ok the costumes and sets are beautiful. Very nice. If I wanted to see pretty pictures I'd just watch some more Planet Earth. I want action and Kung-Fu hijinx!

Planet Eath - I downloaded the HD version of the entire series and the family watched it this weekend. Incredible. Everybody needs to watch this. It makes you appreciate the planet so much more and you'll see things you never knew existed.

Looking for Kitty - kind of a lower budget movie done by Edward Burns. He does quite a few of these, not too heavy on story, focusing more on characters in realistic/everyday situations. I like Edward Burns, and I like these movies. They're definitely not for everybody though.

Maybe we should split this up. (Thoughts on January Movies, Thoughts on February Movies, Thoughts on Movies Released Back In The Day...etc.). That aside,

Cloverfield

My friend saw this, said it was good. I want to see it, maybe.

Planet Earth

I tried to get my Mom to buy the movie, but she wouldn't. And she teaches science. Where did you download it from Omar, or are you going 5th Amendment (Right to remain silent) on that?

Youtorrent.com my friend. If you want the HD version (2.2GB each) just do a search for Planet Earth HD. But if you search for just planet earth you should get a ton of results. You can download the whole set in one torrent which is like 10GB I think (SD version).

Arg, I get low bitTorrent speeds. Even normal speed 50-80kb would take a while. And 10 gb is over half my hard drive. I need a NAS box.

I Am Legend

Saw this one last night. Very well done, very suspensful. Very emotional as well. Made me think about humans existence in the whole scheme of things. Made better by the fact that my friend jumped at even the tiniest crashing noise. It was awesome.

Bank Job

Saw this one last Friday. I'd say it was O.K. The fact it was based on a true story is what saved it. I'd say a 6 or 7 out of ten. There were just some really dumb parts to it. There's also some nudity, which sometimes that went to extremes to hide with odd camera angles, and other times that went to the extreme to show. Kinda weird.

Southland Tales

I highly recommend this,  it just came out on DVD and is really good. It'd kind of confusing, but is funny (although it's not a comedy) and is very interesting. It's kind of a science fiction film, kind of a drama, kind of an action. The Partiort Act has been expanded after there were nuclear attacks on the U.S. and the government controls almost everything. It center's around a group of rebels, the Neo-Marxists, who are attempting to rig an election. It also gets into 4th dimension and rifts in the space-time continuum. Best lines:

"Scientists are predicting the future will be far more futuristic than originally predicted."

"Then the 4th dimension will collapse... you stupid bitch."

Southland Tales also had a very good soundtrack, featuring a good song by The Killers called "All The Things That I Have Done" and others.

Additionally I advise everyone download Southland Tales right now off of bitTorrent. Watch it. NOW.

No Country for Old Men

Everyone has such good things to say about this movie, yet I haven't seen it.   Hummmmmmmm...maybe I should.
