MSi N260GTX Twin Frozr OC

$220.00 Released January, 2010

Product Shot 1 The Pros:Good cooling system, the non-stock dual cooling fans does a better job than the standard reference model. Comes with a decent factory overclock, but still has room for a bit more overclocking. Good performance at higher resolutions such as 1920x1200, no performance drops like some cards due to bandwidth limitations.

The Cons:The open cooler design means that not all the hot air is blown out of the chassis, some will remain inside, mean users will need to pay attention to their case cooling. Relatively expensive even compared to two HD4870 cards, the similarly priced HD4870 X2 also provides a step up in performance. Bundle is lackluster considering this is a premium custom card.

The MSi N260GTX Twin Frozr OC is a video card built for serious gamers. It has a fast processor and a large amount of fast memory. The Twin Frozr OC is similar to the original N260GTX Lightning, but with the addition of the Twin Frozr cooling system.

This system rapidly pulls heat away from the card, allowing for overclocking of the processor without worrying as much about overheating. There is a reduced amount of memory in this version, however, as the intention is to allow users to make that memory faster. In addition, up to three of these cards can be linked together in a single PC for even more processing power.

The processor is a 655MHz GeForce GTX 260, working with 896MB of DDR3 memory in 448-bit mode. The memory clock is set to 2100MHz, and there is 117.7GB/s of bandwidth allocated to moving data in and out of memory. The card can support two DVI displays, a VGA display, or two HDMI displays. There is also HDCP support for home theater users, but the Twin Frozr system may prevent it from running silently. This card supports DirectX 10.0 and OpenGL 2.1.
