The Wind series marked MSI’s entrance into the mini-notebook market. Most notable was the U100, of which the U90 is meant to be a followup. The U90 was well received when it was first released, primarily for its small screen size and large storage capacity, but received some criticism for too few differences between itself and its predecessor. Despite the grumblings, the 8.9” screen was a marked improvement over the 10” screen that dominates the rest of the Wind line. The oddest choice MSI made with the U90 was to ship it with the SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop instead of Windows XP. The reasoning was that Linux would reduce the price somewhat. If you have your own Windows license, the laptop will support it, but there are better choices if Linux isn't your first choice.
