Determined not to rest on their laurels or cater to expectations, the 59-year-old icon and his junior partner craft a subtle and intriguing sound built on their shared love of folk forms and gift for interpretation, bringing to light esoteric gems by late Byrds visionary Gene Clark and the Everly Brothers along the way as well.

Ten is the debut studio album released by Pearl Jam on August 27, 1991. In 2003, the album was ranked #207 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. Since its release, some band members have been dissatisfied with the way the album was mixed (supposedly too much reverb giving the album an "over-produced" sound). On March 24, 2009, Ten was reissued in four editions (Legacy, Deluxe, Vinyl, and Super Deluxe). The extras on the four editions are as follows:

Legacy, Deluxe, Vinyl, and Super Deluxe editions

A remastering and remix of the entire album by producer Brendan O'Brien

Six bonus tracks

Re-designed packaging

Deluxe and Super Deluxe editions

A DVD of the band's 1992 appearance on MTV Unplugged

Vinyl and Super Deluxe editions

Vinyl versions of the album

Super Deluxe edition

An LP of the band's September 20, 1992 concert at Magnuson Park in Seattle (also known as Drop in the Park)

A replica of the original Mamasan demo cassette

A replica of Vedder's composition notebook containing personal notes and mementos

The production value is of noticably higher quality (thanks in part to a larger budget). While the groups black metal roots remain intact (the screeched vocals stand as a testement to that), the focus is shifted more prominently to acoustic guitar arrangements with cleanly sung vocals. Numerous instruments are utilized throughout each of the albums nine tracks, including contrabass, trombone, bells, synths, accordian, mandolin, timpani, and a myriad of others which lend themselves to the long, complex arrangments found here (the average song lengeth is about seven minutes).

Steal This Album!

Parental Advisory: Mature Content

This is the third album by System of a Down. This album was made after a number of leaked songs by SOAD emerged on the internet. The band decided to release the finished songs on Steal This Album! after expressing concern that fans were listening to unfinished material. The songs were originally going to be included in the album Toxicity, but the band came to the conclusion that the songs didn't fit in with the continuity of the album. Steal This Album! made number 15 on Billboard 200. Some of the leaked songs were left out, including "Fortress" and "Virginity". New songs, such as "Roulette, were added to the collection.

Track List:

1. Chic 'N' Stu 2:23

2. Innervision 2:33

3. Bubbles 1:57

4. Boom! 2:15

5. Nuguns 2:31

6. A.D.D (American Dream Denial) 3:18

7. Mr. Jack 4:11

8. I-E-A-I-A-I-O 3:08

9. 36 0:46

10. Pictures 2:07

11. Highway Song 3:15

12. F*** the System 2:15

13. Ego Brain 3:23

14. Thetawaves 2:39

15. Roulette 3:21

16. Streamline 3:35

The album's CD had four other covers besides the white with black sharpie writing that is the most common. The other four covers are considered to be rare and were designed by members of the band. The most controversial cover depicts two differrent colored V's. Some people believe this signifies Uncle Sam having sex with the queen of England.

One Cello x 16: Natoma

Zoë Keating is like a string quartet rolled into one person, creating full and rich sounds with "minimalist music with a pop sensibility" (SF Weekly). The cello is a unique instrument with deep bass and complex sounds. Keating's work has not gone unnoticed, she's been featured on NPR, various TV commercial, TV shows, documentaries and dance productions. Keating has found a great way to merge her passions for electronica by sampling and repeating layers interwoven with the classical sound of her cell. Subsequently, she's creating a genre rather than just falling into one. As a testament to her abilities, this album made it to #2 on iTunes for classical and #3 for electronica.

All of the songs on The Hazards of Love contribute to a unified narrative. The story centers around a woman named Margaret, who falls in love with a forest dweller named William. Their union is not approved of by the forest queen (who is also William's mother). Aided by the villian Rake the queen seeks to destroy their love, adding conflict to the narrative. The album could be thought of as a single continuous song, though their are seventeen individual track IDs.

In Rainbows

In Rainbows is Radiohead's 7th studio album coming 3 years after their previous album, Hail to the Thief. In Rainbows was a major break for the band as they decided to release the album digitally for free directly from their website. You can also choose to pay the band for the album, although the price is up to you. For fans who want a hardcopy of their music, you can also purchase the discbox from the site, which includes the In Rainbows CD, 2 vinyl records, lyric booklets, as well as a bonus disc featuring 8 additional songs, artwork, and photos. The discbox retails for $80.

In Rainbows has caused a significant stir among the music industry as Radiohead is currently without a label and working independently. Their plan is to sign with a label in the weeks or months following the release of In Rainbows and release a traditional CD in early 2008.

The soundtrack accompanying the film will also be all new original content, composed by Hans Zimmer, an Academy, Golden Globe and Grammy Award winner. Zimmer has composed film scores for over 100 films, and composed the soundtrack to Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End at the same time as The Simpsons, making it an interesting to note any similarities, with Zimmer having been quoted as saying he enjoyed "using all his creative juices at once".

The Simpsons movie soundtrack is being released with a limited edition donut casing, which is the same donut used in the promotional material of the movie. Some especially funny titles include, "Thank You Boob Lady" and "His Big Fat Butt Could Shield Us All". Note: the soundtrack does not include the Green Day version of The Simpsons theme song, which is being released as a single.

As a bonus, demos from AK's band, ROTARY RED, are included at the end of the CD. These 6 songs straight out rock big time! What ever happened to Rotary Red....these guys kick ass! Heavy guitar, bass, and drums...emphasized by the thrashing vocals by Tony D make these demos a MUST HEAR!

While the previous album featured strong orchestral elements through the heavy use of string instruments, the current release sees Stars go in a different direction relying on the piano, and more synthesizers. Some songs are considered as being right at home in 80s synth pop.

Originally slated for release on September 25th, 2007 the album was leaked early onto the Internet. To combat piracy the band released the album on iTunes two months early in July, only six days after they finished recording in the studio.

Recorded over a period of two years, The Fragile continues the themes found on The Downward Spiral. Reznor described the album as, "Bleaker than Downward Spiral with a theme of things falling apart." The album relies far more on soundscapes, ambiant noise, and electronic beats than its predecessor. The resulting double album portrays the emotions Reznor was feeling at the time through the vivid medium of music, resulting in a powerful record that remains many NIN fans favorite recording.

Meat Loaf's original right-hand-man songwriter Jim Steinman writes many of the songs. Expect a number of painfully heroic, tragic, love songs in line with the "Beauty and the Beast" Meat Loaf motif. The title track "The Monster is Loose" was leaked on the Internet several months ago and is available for download on Meat Loaf's MySpace page.
Added from www.amazon.com

Inspired by a Japanese folk tale, The Crane Wife is the Decemberist's first release after signing with Capitol records. Released in October 2006, almost half of this 60 minute album is dedicated to two songs (in several parts): "The Island", and "The Crane Wife". Considered to be a slight departure from the typical Decemberist sound, the album may be their most ambitious so far.

If you want to get a good read on this album, the first thing you have to do is drop all your preconceived notions of Justin Timberlake, boy bands and especially N'Sync.
Lickpenny Loafer is a Toronto-based indie rock band that likes to take its time. After writing songs and playing live gigs for close to eight years the band decided, at the start of 2006, that the moment was ripe to record. Their highly anticipated debut 4-song EP took them close to a year to finish. The result is a work that appeals to audiences much in the way that wine appeals to the taster- as a journey of discovery that only gets better with time.

Yusuf (Cat Stevens) walked away from mainstream music almost 30 years ago, but returns in full form with his latest endeavor, An Other Cup. The title is perhaps an homage to his famous album, Tea for the Tillerman. An Other Cup is reflective of Yusuf's time away from the spotlight and his quest for enlightenment featuring songs like "Heaven/Where True Love Goes" and "I Think I See the Light". Yusuf has said, "I feel right about making music and singing about life in this fragile world again. It is important for me to help bridge the cultural gaps others are sometimes frightened to cross."

Apologies to the Queen Mary

On first listen, Wolf Parade is just another Canadian buzz band that plays fun, keyboard-heavy, new wave-y indie-rock and sings in weird, affected, high-pitched tones. Upon further listening, the songs reveal a lot of strange and fuzzy little details, and the lyrics have more depth than most bands do on their debuts. The Montreal-based group was brought to the Seattle-based Sub Pop label's attention by none other than Modest Mouse's Isaac Brock, modern rock radio's king of affected vocalizings. Brock even recorded much of the album in Portland, OR. The vocalist has more than a passing affinity for David Bowie, and if you love the Arcade Fire and Frog Eyes, you probably are already a fan. Apologies is a very fun debut; the studied strangeness of the singing grates less over time, and it'll be really interesting to see what they come up with next.

TRACK LISTING:

1. You Are a Runner and I Am My Father's Son

2. Modern World

3. Grounds For Divorce

4. We Built Another World

5. Fancy Claps

6. Same Ghost Every Night

7. Shine a Light

8. Dear Sons and Daughters of Hungry Ghosts

9. I'll Believe in Anything

10. It's a Cure

11. Dinner Bells
