Thriller 25 is the 25th anniversary re-release of Michael Jackson's popular Thriller album originally released in 1982. Additional material has been added to the album thanks to the collaboration of contemporary artists will.i.am and Kanye West. The album also includes a DVD featuring several Micheal Jackson videos, and a Thriller booklet. The album was released February 12th, 2008 by Legacy Recordings, the re-issue division of Sony BMG.

This is the first album by Mika, a new pop British recording artist. Mika's voice is reminiscent of Freddie Mercury of Queen and tracks on Life in Cartoon Motion have the feel of 1970s pop and disco. Popular songs off this album are "Grace Kelly" and "Relax, Take It Easy".

Pearl Jam - Ten (2009 Re-Issue)

Ten is the debut studio album released by Pearl Jam on August 27, 1991. In 2003, the album was ranked #207 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. Since its release, some band members have been dissatisfied with the way the album was mixed (supposedly too much reverb giving the album an "over-produced" sound). On March 24, 2009, Ten was reissued in four editions (Legacy, Deluxe, Vinyl, and Super Deluxe). The extras on the four editions are as follows:

Agalloch - The Mantle

Agalloch's second full length release, The Mantle was released in 2002, three years after the groups first album Pale Folklore. The production value is of noticably higher quality (thanks in part to a larger budget). While the groups black metal roots remain intact (the screeched vocals stand as a testement to that), the focus is shifted more prominently to acoustic guitar arrangements with cleanly sung vocals. Numerous instruments are utilized throughout each of the albums nine tracks, including contrabass, trombone, bells, synths, accordian, mandolin, timpani, and a myriad of others which lend themselves to the long, complex arrangments found here (the average song lengeth is about seven minutes).

The Radiohead USB stick is a 4GB USB device pre-loaded with 7 of Radiohead's earlier albums, including a collection of live recordings. The stick is in the shape of Radiohead's iconic bear, with CD quality wav files. After the optional-payment model for their 2007 album, In Rainbows, it comes as no surprise that they are continually experimenting with the way music is distributed, although this is not the first USB-distributed album.

Parental Advisory: Mature Content

This is the third album by System of a Down. This album was made after a number of leaked songs by SOAD emerged on the internet. The band decided to release the finished songs on Steal This Album! after expressing concern that fans were listening to unfinished material. The songs were originally going to be included in the album Toxicity, but the band came to the conclusion that the songs didn't fit in with the continuity of the album. Steal This Album! made number 15 on Billboard 200. Some of the leaked songs were left out, including "Fortress" and "Virginity". New songs, such as "Roulette, were added to the collection.

The album's CD had four other covers besides the white with black sharpie writing that is the most common. The other four covers are considered to be rare and were designed by members of the band. If not anything else, this album should get an award for the most creative song titles. Illinoise is just one of what Sufjan Stevens hopes to be fifty albums, each dedicated to each state in the good ole USA. Ecclectic, lush, whimsical, and odd are some good adjectives to describe this album.

Zeitgeist

Zeitgeist is the seventh studio album released by Smashing Pumpkins, but the first to release since the groups disbandment in 2000. Jimmy Chamberlin (drummer) and Billy Corgan (singer, lead guitarist) were the only two members from the original Smashing Pumpkins to participate in the making of this album. Corgan stated that he wanted to make a mainstream rock album, comment on the political climate of the United States, and explore the nature of the band as well as his friendship with Chamberlin.

Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth (2005)

With Teeth is the fourth studio album released by Nine Inch Nails. Originally meant to be a concept album based on the science fiction novel The Lathe of Heaven, Trent Reznor (the bands primary creative force, vocalist, songwriter, producer, and instrumentalist) descirbes the tracks as "13 songs that are friends with each other but don't have to rely on each other to make sense." He has also stated that the album is highly influenced by his battle with and recovery from alcoholism and substance abuse.

In Rainbows is Radiohead's 7th studio album coming 3 years after their previous album, Hail to the Thief. Arcade Fire's latest album to be released March 6th, 2007. Their first single Intervention was released on iTunes on Dec. 28th, 2006 and their next US single Black Mirror can be previewed by calling 1-866-NEON-BIBLE (1-866-636-6242). Neon Bible is scheduled for release Rough Trade in the UK and Merge Records in North America. Simpsons Movie Soundtrack

After being on the air for 18 seasons and over 400 episodes, The Simpsons on-air time now also includes a full-length feature film, made entirely of new material and storylines. The soundtrack accompanying the film will also be all new original content, composed by Hans Zimmer, an Academy, Golden Globe and Grammy Award winner. Zimmer has composed film scores for over 100 films, and composed the soundtrack to Pirates of the Carribean: At World's End at the same time as The Simpsons, making it an interesting to note any similarities, with Zimmer having been quoted as saying he enjoyed "using all his creative juices at once".

The Simpsons movie soundtrack is being released with a limited edition donut casing, which is the same donut used in the promotional material of the movie. Some especially funny titles include, "Thank You Boob Lady" and "His Big Fat Butt Could Shield Us All". Note: the soundtrack does not include the Green Day version of The Simpsons theme song, which is being released as a single.

The debut album by System of a Down. The album achieved gold status in the year 2000, and then platinum status two years later. System of a Down is made up of four members: Serj Tankian (lead vocals, keyboard, guitar), Daron Malakian (vocals, lead guitar), Shavo Odadjian (bass guitar, backing vocals), and John Dolmayan (drums). All four of the members are Armenian-American, grandsons of Armenian genocide survivors, and are known for their outspoken views found in many of there songs.

Into the Electric Castle is the third release from Dutch composer Arjen A. Luccassen. The story follow eight characters from different periods of time who find themselves in another dimension. As they try to discover why they are their and what they are supposed to be doing, a voice rings out from the sky, telling them that they are in a dimension built on dreams and fears. They must journey to the Electric Castle if they are to return to their own time, facing their deepest darkest fears in the process. Those that survive the journey arrive at the castle to find the voice belonging to an alien named Forever of the Stars. His race created Earth in order to study humans and their emotions, having lost the ability to have feelings long ago.

This massive prog rock opera clocks in at over one hundred minutes in length, and is split into two discs. Disc One details they characters journey to the castle, while Disc Two describes what occurs when they arrive their. As is typical for Luccassen's Ayreon project, he is supported by an all star cast of vocalists and instrumentalists including: Edwin Balogh as the Roman, Sharon den Adel as the Indian, Jay van Feggelen as the Barbarian, Fish as the Highlander, Anneke van Giersbergen as the Egyptian, Edward Reekers as the Futureman, Damian Wilson as the Knight, Robert Westerholt and George Oosthoek as Death, Peter Daltry as Forever of the Stars, and finally Arjen Luccassen as the Hippie.

It was a sunny cool day on January 13, 1968, when Johnny Cash performed a concert at Folsom Prison. Cash's imposing bass-baritone is in front of the bumping, "boom-chicka-boom" two-beat that was the hallmark of the Tennessee Three, led by his longtime guitarist Luther Perkins (who died that same year in a tragic fire). Also on board for the crackling set were Cash's future wife June Carter, The Statler Brothers quartet, and the legendary Carl Perkins. There had never been a recording session quite like the one that produced this album. Playing to 2,000 inmates--and, of course, their well-armed guards - at a notoriously tough California penitentiary, Cash tapped right into the tension in the hall. Having been through a scrape or two with the law in his younger, wilder days, he offered a number of songs that resonated with this audience. But then he broke thetension with the gallows humor of "25 Minutes To Go," the comic vignette of his "Dirty Old Egg-Sucking Dog," and a tale of woe concerning how he got the big kiss-off ("Flushed From The Bathroom Of Your Heart").

The 1994 debut album from Norway's Emperor, a landmark album in the black metal genre. Widely regarded to be one of the the examples of Norwegian black metal from the early 1990's, partly for the orchestral fury of the music, and partly for the notoriety the band earned following this album. In the wake of In The Nightside Eclipse, guitarist Samoth was jailed for the infamous arsons of Norway's ancient wooden churches, and drummer Faust was jailed for arson and the murder of an acquaintance outside of Lillehammer's Olympic Stadium.

In Our Bedroom After the War is the Stars followup album to their critically successful Set Yourself on Fire that launched them into the international scene in 2005. While the previous album featured strong orchestral elements through the heavy use of string instruments, the current release sees Stars go in a different direction relying on the piano, and more synthesizers. Some songs are considered as being right at home in 80s synth pop.

Originally slated for release on September 25th, 2007 the album was leaked early onto the Internet. To combat piracy the band released the album on iTunes two months early in July, only six days after they finished recording in the studio.

Zoë Keating is like a string quartet rolled into one person, creating full and rich sounds with "minimalist music with a pop sensibility" (SF Weekly). The cello is a unique instrument with deep bass and complex sounds. Keating's work has not gone unnoticed, she's been featured on NPR, various TV commercial, TV shows, documentaries and dance productions. Keating has found a great way to merge her passions for electronica by sampling and repeating layers interwoven with the classical sound of her cell. Believe is Disturbed's second album. It was recorded in just six weeks. It sold 284,000 copies in it's first week and debuted at #1 on Billboard charts. There was also a limited edition realease that contained a supplementary DVD and delux packaging. The DVD contained the video for "Prayer", behind the scenes exerpts of the Prayer video shoot, footage of the band recording Believe, and 15 minutes of Disturbed's home video. On first listen, Wolf Parade is just another Canadian buzz band that plays fun, keyboard-heavy, new wave-y indie-rock and sings in weird, affected, high-pitched tones. Upon further listening, the songs reveal a lot of strange and fuzzy little details, and the lyrics have more depth than most bands do on their debuts. The Montreal-based group was brought to the Seattle-based Sub Pop label's attention by none other than Modest Mouse's Isaac Brock, modern rock radio's king of affected vocalizings. Brock even recorded much of the album in Portland, OR. The vocalist has more than a passing affinity for David Bowie, and if you love the Arcade Fire and Frog Eyes, you probably are already a fan. Apologies is a very fun debut; the studied strangeness of the singing grates less over time, and it'll be really interesting to see what they come up with next.

This album is beautifully put together and a joy to listen to from start to end. Stand out tracks include Four Leaf Clover and Holy Grail. Perhaps you should give it a shot.

The fifth album released by The Decemberists, The Hazards of Love takes the recurring story themes present on The Crane Wife and takes it one step farther. All of the songs on The Hazards of Love contribute to a unified narrative. The story centers around a woman named Margaret, who falls in love with a forest dweller named William. Their union is not approved of by the forest queen (who is also William's mother). Aided by the villian Rake the queen seeks to destroy their love, adding conflict to the narrative. The album could be thought of as a single continuous song, though their are seventeen individual track IDs.

Chutes Too Narrow is The Shins' 2003 follow-up to their breakthrough album, Oh, Inverted World. The album title comes from a lyric in the song "Young Pilgrims." The album was generally well received by critics, garnering an overall score of 88/100 on Metacritic. According to Nielson SoundScan, they have sold over 393,000 copies to date. The album has a much cleaner sound than the Shins' 2001 debut, Oh, Inverted World, largely due to the album's being mixed by producer Phil Ek, who also worked with Built to Spill and Modest Mouse. The album also included violin parts on "Saint Simon," played by Annemarie Ruljancich. Chutes Too Narrow was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Recording Package. The song "Gone for Good" was used in the 2004 film In Good Company.

Their early stuff is too "Misfits", and their new stuff is too EMO-pretentious. This album hits the mark. I am a fan of Coheed&Cambria, and this album reminds me of their sound in some way.
