I respect the power of MySpace but I am frustrated by the difficulty in designing one's own space, even for people who understand design. This difficulty only encourages horrible and often illegible space creation by the vast majority of MySpace users. The lack of content limitation and organization on a users main page can lead to extensive download times as well. The amount of spam accounts is also immensely bothersome. In the end, I did not last more than a month on MySpace, leaving for a combination of LiveJournal and Facebook.

The one good thing about MySpace is that it is so ubiquitous it has one of the largest gatherings of people on the net, making it a better source for finding old classmates and the like than many other social networking sites.

I find that Facebook has crossed the tipping point in regards to attention and adoption such that anybody who is worth reconnecting with is already on the service, or will be soon. I think there's some geographic bias happening as well, as MySpace never became big in Canada... at least among my close and extended circle of friends.

It's kind of like how everybody in my area uses MSN, while a lot of Americans use AOL, and Europeans Skype, certain African/Middle Eastern countries use Yahoo, and Chinese users have something else entirely.
