Nalgene Wide Mouth Bottle
Nalgene was one of the first companies to expound the virtues of drinking water continuously throughout the day. However, much to their chagrin, the bottled water industry took off, causing a significant environmental impact and ignoring a major component to their message - drinking the water from a reusable container. Nalgene's are renowned for their leak-proof system with lids that mate perfectly with the bottle itself. Each bottle is made from polycarbonate plastic - a somewhat controversial issue due to studies that found the hazardous bishenol A can leachate into the water. Although this issue requires further study, Nalgene continues to be the leader in the reusable bottle market. For an alternative, the Platypus water bottle uses polypropylene plastic which has proven to be a less contentious option.
