Need For Speed: Shift is a fast-paced racing video game developed by Slightly Mad Studios and published by Electronic Arts on the September 22nd of 2009 for Playstation 3, Playstation Portable, Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, mobile phones, and the iPhone. The 15th+ installment in the highly successful ‘Need for Speed’ series, “Need for Speed: Shift” is geared strictly for hardcore fans of the series, and in fact focuses primarily on simulation racing and drifting (versus arcade racing). In fact, some of the world’s greatest racing-game talents and real-race drivers were brought forth to complete this game, including Patrick Soderlund and Michael Mann. “Need for Speed: Shift’s” new driver profile allows the player to customize a persona based on his or her individual driving skills (e.g. aggressive, precise). These settings then determine how the player unlocks cars, progresses in the game, and also his/her multiplayer matchmaking.

- Gorgeous graphics (significant upgrade over Forza 2)
- improved damage physics, cars can roll over now
- built-in replay video editor and uploading to the net

- rewind doesn't work at the beginning and end of races for some reason
- loading times are just long enough to be somewhat annoying
- force-feedback on the wheel isn't as strong as in other games
