The Netgear RP614 is a four port 10/100 network router aimed at families and first-time home network consumers. The RP614 was designed by Netgear to be exceedingly straightforward for beginners to setup and maintain. The router comes with a 13-page printed installation guide, plus an interactive “Installation Assistant” which can be found on the installation CD. For even more help, an electronic reference manual is included along with three years of toll-free 24/7 telephone support. Features on Netgear’s RP614 include parental content filtering (by URL or keyword), web access limiting, web site logging and automatic email alerts if someone attempts to access a restricted website. In terms of security, the Netgear RP614 offers NAT in order for the owner to handpick authorized users. Users looking for a router designed for ease of use and one which is intended for a home environment with children should find the Netgear RP614 more than adequate.

- wireless G and 100Mbit Ethernet is great for the majority of individuals

- Lots of people have reported problems with version 1.0.0.4 of the firmware.
- no Gigabit or wireless N capabilities is limiting if there will be a large amount of data transfer (such as large files) over the network
- Have it, and trying to resolve some serious issues. Not sure if its the firmware version or some other problem, but this router drops connection (including wired connections) when new machines join network.
