The Nikon Coolpix P60 is a moderate-sized compact that seems designed to serve as a general purpose digital camera. With a 5x zoom lens, 8.1 megapixel sensor, 15 scene modes and manual exposure control the P60 offers the features most commonly sought by many consumers. Image stabilization is achieved by mechanical sensor shift if the camera senses movement, and the camera offers up to ISO 2000 sensitivity so low-light photography can actually produce some usable results. (Some reviewers cite the cut off for acceptable images at ISO 1600, however, due to high amounts of noise visible at ISO 2000.) Unlike many digital cameras, the P60 uses normal AA batteries rather than a proprietary rechargeable.
