The Nikon Coolpix P6000, announced in August 2008, has a high-resolution 13.5 megapixel CCD sensor and a 4x Nikkor zoom lens with a maximum width of 28mm (moderate wide-angle). The camera can capture images in RAW format, but RAW decoding is only possible on a Windows OS PC, which has caused vocal disappointment among photography enthusiasts. Optical image stabilization, scene modes and a manual exposure mode to set shutter speed and aperture at the user's choice offer simple point-and-shoot or more sophisticated image control. A built-in GPS can record location coordinates forgeo-tagging photographs, an unusual feature not found on many digital cameras.
