Nintendo, you got me

Let me preface this with the following: I am NOT a gamer. My last stint at video games involved Mario and Luigi when they were still 2 dimensional. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, let me say this: I want this handheld.

I don't know what happened, but as I was watching TV last night, a commercial for the DS Lite came on. In it, a woman was sitting contentedly on a park bench, happily tapping away on her DS Lite. For some reason I thought, "Hey, I want to tap away on a DS Lite!" What? How did that just happen? I've never felt that way before, not even after seeing the incredible graphics or high-paced energy of the slick Xbox 360. And then I realized, Nintendo had gotten me. The elusive female demographic that the gaming industry is desperately trying to get a hold of might just have been conquered.

I'm not sure if it's something as simple as the design of the device itself. Slim, simple and white, its design is very similar to the iPod, which I also love. I think it has to do with how sleek it is, women love elegance, and the DSLite, although a gaming console, somehow looks elegant.

However, the question still remains - what would I play on this thing? I'm still not very interested in video games, and the thought of playing first-person shooters leaves me absolutely cold. But mind games, on the other hand, can keep me busy for hours. Nintendo seems to have read my mind as the DSLite has games ranging from Tetris (my favourite) to 'doctor games' where you perform surgery. They also have a game called Brain Age which allows you to play various 'brain training' games like SuDoku.

As of yet, I haven't played one of these, nor have I even seen one. But when I do, I'll keep you posted to see if it's lived up to my expectations.

All those games rock. And the reason you want to buy it so bad is that nintendo is everywhere. Ever notice if you zoom in on anything in the world about a million time you will see the words "Buy Nintendo" clear as day*. Seriously buy yourself an electron microscope at WalMart and try it out. You are right about nintendo, it seems to be trying to expand the number of people other than the hardcore gamers that use its products. *I'm totally lying if you have'nt guessed already.
