The 2 new offerings from nintendo and sony will be released in less than a month! I am so impatient, hurry it up already!
I am writing this article to sing the praises of the Wii, and to voice my opinion on the PS3.
Wii
All the nintendo fans in the world (including me) seem to be singing the praises of Wii, some are skeptical that it will really achieve a revolution, but lots of good solid opinions of it nonetheless. My faith in the Wii was bolstered yesterday as I was playing a snowboarding demo on my PS2. My little sister wanted to play. I told her how (not like she really understood or cared, shes just a little kid) and she was off down the mountain. She jumped off the ramps and pulled off a few tricks, but she really had trouble turning. In fact when I told her to turn, or she tried to turn herself, she tilted the PS2 controller in the direction she wanted to go. She would have played the game perfectly if she could turn in this manner. And I said "Wow, she could actually play games and do them well with the Wii controller (and six axis, the PS3 controller, for those who prefer its tilting functionality)." It was so cool to watch and envision her, a little kid who still sucks her thumb, play a video game and win, thanks to the Wii-mote.
My whole family is actually taking notice. They all want to play the Wii. My mom, who has never touched or wanted to touch a video game in her life, was interested in the photo shop function of the Wii. My brother, who is an avid fan of the Zelda series, wants to buy all of the Zelda games off the virtual console. And my two other sisters want to swing the remote around. Finally, my dad is the biggest fan of shooting games for the PC in my family. But if he tries to play Call of Duty on my PS2 he can't even turn his guy, let alone shoot someone. He loved the idea of a controller that would let him play shooting games with simialr movement to a PC mouse.
The functionality appeals to everyone in my family, most of which aren't even gamers. Mindblowing!Of course, being the gamer of the family, I am the one most excited about the Wii. What suprised me, is that I want to try all of the other functions the Wii has besides playing games. I really thought the Wii would be all games, trying to sell itself around the controller to try and cast a shadow over the fact it has the worst graphics and no DVD playing capability of any kind. Then they revealed a whole new spectrum of functionality no gamer would have thought to throw in. Stuff that appealed not only to gamers, but everyone. Of course, the Wii is still hardcore gaming (don't let the sleek exterior and white paint job fool you, you wouldn't want to be alone with the Wii in a dark alley), proven by its new controller designed to make games more enjoyable and intuative.
I do think he games will be the major selling point of the Wii though. I mean, they have like 30 games in the launch window and lots of them are totally categories of there own. I myself will be buying Legend of Zelda:Twighlight Princess and Rayman:Raving Rabbids and others if I can afford them like Red Steel and Excite Truck, or mabey even Elebits. You can pick and choose from almost every category in the gaming rainbow on launch day, with may more to come (Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl). All of these should be great games. Enhanced by the Wii-mote. Everyone should buy the Wii, even if it is a second console. Its cheap enough. Go do yourself a favor. Speaking of that, Nintendo better not screw up the console, or I will be a lier.
Also, do you think I should preorder the Wii and any of its games. I expect it to sell out through the holiday season, but I don't live in a very big town. Its like 50 bucks to preorder just the Wii console (thats 1 game I cant buy). Help me decide if you will.
PS3
You thought this would be all about Wii. No. My first words on the PS3 is, why the bleepidy bleep bleep bleep is it priced so high. I want one, but 600 bucks. Never. If I could buy it however, I would definetly buy Resistance Fall of Man and Heavenly Sword. WarHawks looks good too. I saw a picture of the PS3 sitting on a desk, and it just looks so big and clunky, not somooth or appealing to the eye. In my opinion. I am a huge fan of sony, and even I was afraid of looking at it. Its got the horespower and the games to be a major competitor this generation though (even if the price downright sucks). I thought it odd that they copied nintendo though. Sony seems to do this a lot (rumble, tilt sensativity). I think this only strengthens nintendos idea with that others are already trying to integrate it, though not to the extremes that nintendo is. All i have to say is if I could I could I would buy this. Its graphics are downright awesome. The controller is the same as PS2's though. I was left scratching my head on that one. Still, love the console. Love it a lot. But it still places third on my ranking of the three consoles of this gen. The games and graphics will sell this piece of gamer legend.
Not much to say about Xbox360, except the new games. Halo Wars. YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!
