The GeForce 8800 GT is an upper-tier model in Nvidia's 8 series of mid-range, consumer desktop graphics cards. The SLI-ready 8800 GT is also the only 8-series model available for the Mac, as it can serve as a GPU upgrade for the Mac Pro. With DirectX 10 support, the 512MB GeForce 8800 GT should run most of 2009's mainstream PC games with ease. The unit features 112 processor cores, a 256-bit frame buffer to maintain high frame rates, and a second-generation PureVideo HD engine, which Nvidia claims enhances picture quality for PC Blu-ray playback. Nvidia also incorporates compatibility with PCI Express 2.0 bus architecture, in an attempt to future-proof the 8800 GT.
