nVidia nForce 790i Chipset
The nVidia nForce 790i Chipset is the first chipset introduced by NVIDIA that takes full advantage of the maximum offered FSB (Front Side Bus) speed of all Intel 45nm Dual and Multi core processors; 1600MHz. Boards equipped with the 790i SLI chipset offer socket LGA 775 support for complete compatibility with all Intel Penryn (Yorkfield & Wolfdale), Core 2 Extreme, Core 2 Quad, Core 2 Duo, and Intel Pentium Family processors. The 790i SLI chipset also supports compatibility with dual gigabit LAN interface chipsets, Azalia high-definition audio chipsets, and storage capacity with SATA, eSATA, PATA, IDE and USB compatibility. The chipset also supports 3-way SLI which may be broadcasted through 3 PCI-e x16 Gen 2.0 slots. The 790i also intruduces support for Dual Channel DDR3 200MHz EPP memory.
