The handset is 3G which makes for high-speed data transfers, as well as compatible with all four GSM frequencies and the older GSM data networks of EDGE and GPRS. Bluetooth support is also included.
On the multimedia side the phone is a full mp3 player supporting various formats such as MP3, AAC, WMA and WAV. Video playback is more limited, but available. All content is stored on the 2GB of built in flash memory, or on a microSD card that fits into the expansion slot. An FM radio tuner is also included. Controlling the media is done through buttons located on the sides of the phone for convenience.
A 2 megapixel camera with flash, zoom, and auto focus functionality allows for decent quality pictures to be taken. The Cocoon can capture video, and even be used for video conferencing on the 3G network.
O2 is included a docking station that they dub "the Nest". The Next is responsible for recharging the Cocoon, and at the same time expands its functionality. Speakers are found inside the Nest which allows for many people to listen to your music. When inside the Nest the Cocoon can act as an alarm clock with radio or mp3s used as the wake up call.
