The E-520 is an upper-entry-level digital SLR camera from Olympus, designed to replace its predecessor, the Olympus E-510. While very similar to the E-420, this camera has a larger, more standardized body and grip shape when it comes to DSLRs. Like the smaller E-420, the E-520 comes equipped with a 10 megapixel resolution, a dust reduction system to remove image-ruining particles from the image sensor, and a 2.7” LCD screen to quickly and clearly focus photos. The E-520 also comes equipped with face detection technology, allowing for up to 8 people to automatically be in focus for sharp photo imaging. Common complaints about this camera include a small viewfinder and lower dynamic range capabilities compared to the camera’s competitors. The E-520 is generally regarded as a well-equipped and capable camera for beginners in the market for an advanced DSLR, but will likely not be enough for advanced users and professionals.
