The Onkyo HT-S6100 ($699) is a home-theater-in-a-box (HTIB) released on June 22nd, 2008 along with the announcement of the Onkyo HT-S7100 ($799, August 2008) and two new a/v receivers, the Onkyo TX-SR706 ($799, July 2008) and Onkyo TX-SR806 ($899, August 2008). The package includes 1) an HT-R667 a/v receiver (essentially the same as the Onkyo TX-SR606 with more power at 130 Watts / channel), 2) 7 x 2-way surround speakers with 3-1/8" mid range drivers (2 drivers for front, center, 1 for surround), and 1" dome tweeter, and 3) a 10" sub-woofer. The receiver has a fairly impressive set of specifications and features including 4 x HDMI inputs, Faroudja DCDi upscaling to 1080i, and high-definition audio decoding.

- the receiver can handle lots of different systems working off it (i.e., TV, Gaming, Computer, Radio, etc.)

- have to get longer wires for proper concealment
- it would be nice if it had a couple more analog RCA a/v inputs
- speaker wire connection interface could have been made better
