The Onkyo TX-SR506 is entry-level 7.1 a/v receiver with three 1.3a HDMI inputs and 75 Watts of power per audio channel. It was released in April 2008 with an MSRP $379, but like so many Onkyo receivers there has been a significant price drop to around $230. The TX-SR506 only supports HDMI pass-thru up to 1080p and can't decode audio signal from the HDMI cable, so a separate audio connection will be necessary. The step-up model Onkyo TX-SR576 features HDMI audio processing; for video upscaling you'll have to upgrade to the Onkyo TX-SR606. The TX-SR506 supercedes the Onkyo TX-SR505 with similar specifications released a year earlier for $299. This receiver is essentially the same as found in the Onkyo HT-S5100 home theater in a box.
