The Panasonic DMR-E85HS is a 5th generation progressive-scan DVD video recorder with a built-in 120 GB hard disk and TV guide on screen with the ability to record DVD-RAM and DVD-R discs. The DVD drive is capable of playing virtually all disc types with MP3 capabilities and progressive-scan video for high-definition video fit for an HDTV. The 120 GB hard drive can store up to 213 hours of programming and the DVD burner can record at 32x from the hard drive. Much like a VCR, you can program the DMR-E85HS to record one-time or on a regular schedule, and when writing a DVD-RAM disc you have the ability to perform simple nonlinear video editing to rearrange or skip scenes. On top of recording cable TV broadcasts, with this device you are able to convert you old VHS tapes to more durable and space saving discs. The Panasonic DMR-E85HS comes with a remote control (w/ batteries), an RF audio/video in a stereo analog audio/composite-video interconnect, an AC power cord, a user's manual, and a registration card.
