Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX700
$400.00
Released January, 2010
The Pros:Touchscreen works very well, makes navigating menus a breeze. Shutter delay is minimal. Allows you to capture still images while recording movies.
The Cons:Speaker and stereo mics are located on the top of the camera and can be accidentally covered by a finger. Image sharpness and low-light performance are disappointing for a camera this price. Somewhat high price point for a consumer P&S - almost the same cost as higher end options such as the Nikon P7000, Canon S95 or Canon G12.

Unlike the FX40 and FX100, the DMC-FX700 is not a 'super zoomer' and only offers a 5x optical zoom lens on the camera. It does, however, still offer many of the other same features such as 14.1 megapixels, SD/SDHC/SDXC memory card slot, and facial recognition with intelligent autofocus. The DMC-FX700 comes with software to manage and view the photos and videos it takes, as well as software to easily upload the videos to YouTube.
