The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2 is one of the older Lumix offerings still on the market, and in fact its successor, the DMC-LX3, has already been announced and will begin shipping in September 2008. The DCM-LX2 offers a moderate wide-angle (28mm) to short telephoto (112mm) zoom range with optical image stabilization, full manual exposure control and the option to capture images in RAW format. The in-camera processor, Panasonic's Venus III, is a generation behind newer models (Venus IV is available in many newerLumix cameras). Reviews of cameras using the Venus IV frequently include reference to the improvement in noise reduction over previous generations of the processor.
