The Panasonic PT-61LCZ70 is an LCD projection based HDTV that features a 1080p native resolution, and uses a different kind of LIFI technology for its bulb. Most rear projection televisions use what Panasonic dubs a High-Intensity (HiFi) bulb that lasts anywhere between 3000 and 6000 hours. Panasonic's Light Fidelity (LIFI) technology is intended to last substantially longer than traditional bulb, but sacrifices picture quality as a result. Replacement bulbs cost around $300 as of November 2007, and are not user replaceable, meaning extra cost will be incured to hire someone to change the bulb.

An improvement over last year's model is the inclusion of more picture adjustment options. Among the standard brightness, and contrast controls, the set allows for more detailed changes over the color temperature. There are three global settings that apply over all the inputs, and a fourth "Custom" setting that is input specific.
