Panasonic's TH-42PZ700U is the world's first 42" television that offers a FullHD 1080p resolution for the average consumer. Many people don't feel that 1080p is necessary at this display size since you have to sit quite close to the television (4 feet) to appreciate the difference. However, the increase in resolution does offer picture quality benefits as Blu-Ray and HD-DVD content does not have to be scaled in any way.

Details
Image scaling and processing is all accomplished internally, though there is no support for the common Picture-In-Picture feature. In total there are 9 different display modes, five for HD sources including a mode that allows for pixel perfect accuracy, and four for standard definition.
Other features include Panasonic's EZ-Synch technology which allows other Panasonic home theatre devices that are connected to the television's HDMI port to be controlled directly from the television itself. The TH-42PZ700U also comes with an SD memory card reader to display digital pictures.
