Panasonic TH-50PZ77U

The Panasonic TH-50PZ77U is a 50" 1080p plasma television released along with the 42" Panasonic TH-42PZ77U in early September 2007. It is the successor to the TH-50PZ700U ($3000) by increasing the contrast ratio to 10,000:1 with its anti-glare screen and drops the price by $200 to $2800.

Details

Features

  • 50" 1080p plasma; 1920 x 1080 resolution
  • 10,000:1 contrast ratio (up from 5000:1 in TH-50PZ700U)
  • 2 x HDMI, 2 x component, 3 x S-Video (1 on the sie)
  • Anti-glare screen for removing glare from in-room light sources
  • EZ-Sync HDAVI control of all home theater devices over HDMI interface
  • SD memory card slot
  • weight: 111.3 lbs (/w stand)
  • $2799.95 ($200 cheaper than TH-50PZ700U)

The TH-50PZ77U has a slick design with a fairly thin black border, with the speakers situated along the side of the TV. They do not add very much to the overall width of the set because of the thin Panasonic design. There is an SD slot and analog inputs behind a panel on the side of the TV.

After looking at all the different plasmas and quality of each for 2 hours my wife and I choose this one because it stood out far most better than the rest. The anti-glare screen is very good no reflections from outside light. I would recommend this product to everyone

I literally just purchased this unit, only to find out there's a whole new generation of Panasonic plasmas coming out between now and April. Buy this line for the price, but be forewarned that there's new models for 2008...
