Panasonic Viera LZ800 Series

The Viera LZ800 Series is Panasonic's high-end offering into the LCD TV market, with a 1080p native resolution and their own 120Hz-like technology. Details are unclear whether or not the series contains a 120Hz panel, however Panasonic's Motion Picture Pro technology attempts to achieve the same result; handling fast motion without blur, and showing 24p movies without stuttering. These sets are also notable for using the IPS-Alpha panels which is one of the best LCD technologies offering a clear picture alongside very wide viewing angles.

Motion Picture Pro and Motion Focus Technology - similar to the 32" and 37" Sony XBR6 televisions, people are unclear on whether or not these sets have true 120Hz processing, with no confirmation by Panasonic. What Panasonic does claim is that their Motion Picture Pro, and Motion Focus Technologies achieve the same effect of handling fast motion, and reducing film judder.

Viera Link - this refers to the HDMI-CEC capabilities of the televisions that allows you to control other components in your home theater - e.g. blu-ray players, receivers - from the television itself. This functionality is usually found in more expensive price ranges.

IPS Alpha panel - IPS stands for (In-plane switching) which is a form of LCD technology that allows for greater viewing angles, both horizontally and vertically, without losing visual fidelity. Traditional IPS panels suffer from lower contrast ratio and color vividness compared to the LCD technology used by Sony and Samsung. However, the premium IPS-Alpha panels feature comparable vividness while retaining the wider viewing angles.
