The larger TC-L42D2 hosts a wide-angle IPS panel that’s been enhanced with an energy-saving LED backlight. According to Panasonic, the technology keeps images from fading when viewed from an angle. Like its predecessor, the HDTV set full 1080p resolution with a 2,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio that, along with the backlit technology, allows the unit to produce “brilliant luminance and superb blacks.” Added to that, the 24p technology ensures Blu-ray disc media content is presented in its more original format. Included also is VIERA Link, whereby compatible A/V components can be controlled via a single remote.
