Phishing is a serious problem on the Internet as people's login information is taken from them completely undetected. As PayPal controls the biggest online payment system in the world, they are the biggest target for phishing schemes. To combat this growing threat PayPal is releasing a security key generator for a one-time purchase of $5. The key is free if you have a PayPal Business account. The key is linked to your account, and every 30 seconds generates a new numeric pin that you enter in when logging into your PayPal account. Therefore, even if someone gets your login and password, they won't be able to access your account without knowing your security key. After the 30 second number expires, it disappears forever to be replaced by a new number that will last for 30 seconds.

Good idea. I guess this is an extension of their system where they phone you to validate aspects of your account and you put in a pin. If you're afraid of phishing, this thing only costs $5.

Wow- that seems so intense! It's scary that we actually need inventions like this :(
