The Pentax Optio E50 is a simple 8 megapixel camera with a basic feature-set designed for consumers new to digital photography, or for those looking for a no-fuss, point-and-shoot solution. While the basic specs (8megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom) are the same as the E40, the E50's predecessor, the image processor has been upgraded which results - according to reviewers - in a noticeable improvement in performance and image quality over the E40. The camera's scene modes include a portrait mode that detects faces.
