Philips 3400 Series

The 3400 Series is Philips' entry level line of high definition LCD televisions introduced in 2008 and feature a native 720p resolution. This series competes with entry level offerings from other manufacturers and contains a similar set of specifications. Two distinguishing features are the USB port for audio/photo playback, and HDMI-CEC support which are usually found on more expensive lines. The step up from the 3400s is the 3600 series which features a native 1080p resolution and goes up to larger sizes, but is otherwise almost exactly the same specification-wise.

Pixel Plus HD - this is the marketing name given to Philips' picture processing capability. The HD indicates the system can handle processing high-definition footage and was previously found in the high-end Philips televisions. While these entry level models use the Pixel Plus HD, the new high-end TVs now use the Pixel Plus 3 engine which is a further improvement.
