The 5000 Series from Philips is their 2008 mid-range line of high-definition LCD televisions and feature a 1080p native resolution. This line is comparable to other mid-range sets with better picture quality, and improved specifications above the entry-level models, but missing the distinguishing feature of the high-end sets, which is the 120Hz processing (added to 2009 models). Improved beyond the 3000 series is the use of a more advanced image processing engine, Pixel Pure 3, and the inclusion of 4 speakers instead of 2. The high-end 7000 series adds the aforementioned 120Hz mode. The built in USB port allows access to jpeg photos and mp3 music from most USB sticks with an easy to use on screen browser. Both the 3600 and 5000 Series use the same display panels, it is the processing, speakers and extra inputs that differentiate the two. The 2009 models have added 120Hz processing, a Dolby Digital dts-HD output for easy connection to a home theater system and the four HDMI inputs have Easylink for a full HD connection allowing one remote to control all compatible devices.
