The Philips DVP3962/37 is a basic DVD player designed for home theatre use. It has a thin case design, and can play numerous different playback formats. These include CD, (S)VCD, DVD, DVD+R/RW, and DVD-R/RW. It is also DivX certified and can thus play DivX compressed-format videos, and it can also play MPEG and JPEG files directly from digital cameras. It uses a 12-bit digital-to-analog converter and 108MHz video processor which combine to clarify the picture. It also has digital audio sampling, at 192KHz, and 24-bit audio resolution. It also has progressive scanning and digital upscaling, parent controls and child lock. The DVP3962/37 also has HDMI output, and can display high-definition and true-resolution images. The HDMI output is the main distinguishing feature between this model and the DVP3140/37. It upscales video to 1080i as well.
