The Philips HTS7540 is a Blu-ray 5.1 home theater system offered by Philips. The system is comprised of a Blu-ray disc player, four 125 watt tall-boy speakers, a 250 watt center speaker and a 250 watt subwoofer. It has an HDMI, component and composite video output for connectivity with any TV and has an AUX, digital coaxial and optical digital audio inputs to enjoy additional audio sources and has an integrated FM antenna. The built-in Ethenet port lets you enjoy BD-Live for exclusive downloadable content, live events, live chats, gaming and on-line shopping. The EasyLink lets you control multiple devices with one controller using the HDMI CEC industry-standard protocol. It supporst DTS-HD Advanced Digital Out and Dolby TrueHD for high quality audio and DoubleBASS ensures you hear even the deepest bass tones from the compact subwoofer.

- digital audio inputs to enjoy the speakers with other devices
- stands are built into the equation
- profile 2.0
- can play the latest in high definition optical media (Blu-ray), backwards compatible with DVDs
- powerful - 1000W RMS (total system power)
- includes remote control, HDMI cable
- built in FM tuner
- full 5.1 surround sound
Cons
- not as versatile as a home theater system based on a receiver - no way to replace DVD player, upconvert standard SD content to HD, etc...
- too expensive for the majority of consumers
- no mention of DVD upconversion
- poor value - overpriced for limited features and future versatility
