Philips Soundbar HTS8100/37
The HTS8100/37 is found in Philips' Soundbar line--a home theater package designed to emulate surround-sound but from a single set of speakers. This "Ambisound" technology splits 5.1 surround signals into the single speaker set, which uses directional placement to accoustically mimic the effects of a discreet five-channel surround system, complete with an included subwoofer. At only five inches thick, the system is very compact. The HTS8100/37 also features a 3-band equaliser, bass enhancer, manual bass and treble controls, AM/FM tuner, Ipod dock, and a 1080p-upscaling DVD player with HDMI output, capable of also handling SACD. Its output is rated at 240 watts and it decodes not only Dolby Digital but DTS as well.
