The Kodak EasyShare D825 is an entry-level digital photo frame released in March 2010. Featuring an 8” LCD display, the D825 can be paired with any standard picture frame and mounted horizontally or vertically to a wall or desk. It’s only equipped to handle Windows operating systems, but it does feature plug-n-play technology, meaning that it can just be plugged into any Windows computer; no installation is required. Included is 512MB of internal memory, which is enough to store 4000 pictures, but expansion is available via memory cards or USB flash drives.

Kodak Pulse W1030S

The Kodak Pulse W1030S is one of two wireless digital photo frames (W1030S, W730S) added to the Pulse line as updates to the W730 and W1030 models from 2010. The 10” W1030S maintains the same core specs as its predecessors, including a 10” SVGA display, 512MB of onboard storage, and both USB and SD/SDHC memory expansion options. Like its predecessor, the frame comes with own email address so users can easily receive pictures from anyone. It also automatically links to friends and photo albums on Facebook. However, this frame adds the capability to comment on pictures directly via one of twelve built-in messages (LOL, Congrats, OMG, etc.). There’s also a sensor that detects an approaching user, and the capability to create playlists.

Kodak Pulse W730S

The Kodak Pulse W730S is one of two wireless digital photo frames (W1030S, W730S) added to the Pulse line as updates to the W730 and W1030 models from 2010. The smaller 7” W730S hosts the same resolution, as well as an email address for automatically accepting pictures from the Internet. Like its peer, it builds from the first two in the line by adding the capability to comment on pictures by selecting one of twelve integrated messages, such as LOL or Congrats. There’s also an ambient sensor that turns the unit on only if it detects a nearby presence, and a built-in playlist function.

Sony DPF-D1010

The Sony DPF-D1010 is a 10" LCD digital picture frame with 128MB memory capacity that can store up to 200, 2 mega-pixel images. You can connect directly to your computer via mini USB or insert a USB memory stick or SD card filled with images and use the menu to choose the display setting. There are nine different styles of slide shows to choose from each with different transition effects and the time for each picture to be displayed can be adjusted from three seconds to 24 hours. Use the thumbnail index view to flip through pictures to pick out the ones you want, and you can use the Auto Orientation feature to have them automatically rotated depending on whether the frame is placed horizontally or vertically. Clock and calendar modes can be displayed along with the photos and a remote control is included. Multiple auto power on/off settings can be configured as well so it only comes on when you wish. The DPF-D1020 is basically the same picture frame but with 2GB or 4000 picture capacity.

The Sony DPF-D830 is a fully featured digital photo frame featuring a large 8” SVGA LCD panel. It builds from the DPF-D810 and DPF-D820 and in fact all other Sony photo frames by being the first-ever digital photo frame with a built-in USB rechargeable battery that can provide up to 100 minutes of operation time. Otherwise a duplicate of its immediate predecessor, the DPF-D820, the Sony DPF-D830 supports still image, audio, and video playback, not to mention multiple slideshow effects. Rollei Designline 3D

The Designline 3D is the 3D picture frame released by German manufacturer Rollei alongside its first 3D camera, the Powerflex 3D. The two products are compatible, of course, but the 7" Designline 3D can also display 2D and 3D images from any camera. Like the camera's LCD, the photo frame uses Parallax Barrier Display technology, which produces 3D images without the need for glasses. The photo frame features a resolution of 800 x 480. Images can be converted from 2D to 3D on a PC before being displayed. The Designline 3D also records voice messages. Battery life is rated at about 3 hours.

The Sony DPF-D75 is a still-only digital photo frame designed strictly for displaying photos. It builds from the DPF-D710, which is also 7”, by adding LED backlighting technology, which helps make the images appear better, while also reducing energy costs. It also upgrades its memory from 128MB to 256MB, meaning more space for storing content. Mind you, SD/SDHC and Memory Card expansion options still remain. Otherwise a duplicate, the Sony DPF-D75 only supports JPEG, TIFF, and BMP images. Additional features include a USB interface for PC connectivity, an included remote control for added convenience, and support for various slideshow effects.

The ViewSonic ViewFun 3D Show is a 3D-compatible, 8” digital photo frame that can display both 2D and 3D photos and videos. In addition, users don’t have to use glasses to view any 3D content. Aluratek ADPF08SF

The Aluratek ADPF08SF is a low-cost digital picture frame. In order to view pictures, you have to insert your camera or camcorder’s SD/SDHC card (or a USB drive) directly into the frame. Once you do this your pictures will automatically come up in auto slideshow mode. The display of this frame is eight inches of TFT true color LCD, with a resolution of 800 x 600. The stand of the ADPF08SF is adjustable, allowing you to fine-tune vertical orientation. This picture frame differs from the lower cost ADPF07SF in that it is 8 inches (as opposed to seven) and has a higher resolution. However, this picture frame lacks the higher cost Aluratek ADPF310F model's 10.2 inch display, 512MB memory, USB 2.0 cable, audio capability (with built-in speakers) and remote control. The Aluratek ADPF08SF comes with a 120 day limited warranty.

Sony DPF-XR100

The DPF-XR100 is Sony's top of the line digital picture frame released in September 2010 along with the DPF-VR100, both of which offer MP4 and AVCHD video playback with stereo audio. This model has the same 2GB capacity which can store up to 4000 two mega-pixel images and also has multiple card slots for compatibility with an assortment of USB memory sticks, SD and xD cards. The only difference between these two picture frames is this one has an HDMI output, so you can use the device as a media player and watch stored videos and photos on your tv. 16 slide show styles are included with 10 interval settings, and there are 15 different ways to display the date and time on top of your pictures. Other features include thumbnail view index for selecting pictures, MP3 playback, remote control, user definable on/off settings and slide show audio alarm. What separates this photo frame from competitor models is its support for slide show variations, in that slideshows can be customized with a variety of creative transition effects. Aluratek ADMPF108F

The Aluratek ADMPF108F is a lower mid-cost digital picture frame. This frame allows you to view pictures, listen to music (with the built-in speakers) and watch home videos. The display of this picture frame is eight inches of TFT true color LCD at 800 x 600 resolution. To view media in the frame, insert your camera or camcorder’s SD/SDHC card (or an USB drive) directly into the frame. Once this is done, pictures will automatically start in a slideshow mode. With the built-in 512MB memory you can also transfer digital files directly from your computer to the frame with the included USB 2.0 cable. This model differs from the higher cost ADMPF412F in that the ADMPF412F's display is twelve inches. The Aluratek ADMPF108F comes with a remote control.
