The Pioneer DEH-2100B is a well-priced, car-audio CD receiver with a 200w (peak) and 4-channel MOSFET amplifier. The third of seven Pioneer DEH receivers, the Pioneer DEH-2100IB is an upgrade from the DEH-11 series (DEH-1100MP & DEH-11E) in that it is specifically designed for iPod use and in fact comes equipped with an included iPod connection cable. In fact, the DEH-2100IB even enables users to easily access their iPod directly from the head-unit through on-board menu controls. In addition, the DEH-2100IB boasts a CD player that plays CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs, and discs loaded with either MP3 or WMA files. The DEH-2100IB also sports a traditional AM/FM tuner that utilizes Pioneer’s proprietary SuperTuner III technology to reduce distortion and output only exceptional-quality reception, a front auxiliary port for connecting various portable devices such as an MP3/iPod music player, a 3-band equalizer with six preset tone settings, 2-channel preamp outputs, an RCA pre-out for adding on external amps and speakers, and a wireless remote control. The Pioneer DEH-2100IB retails for a more expensive $120.00 (versus $100.00/$80.00) and comes with a 1 year limited warranty.

The Sony CDX GT430U head unit is a relatively inexpensive device that is compatible with all of Sony's latest audio technologies - a great thing for a consumer who wants to buy cheap now and add on to the capabilities later. It is a CD tuner and comes with USB and AUX-IN connections for...

Cons
- Back light is too bright and has no dimmer function other than for the display.

- Putting mp4 files on a USB drive doesn't work. If you want to play files off your USB drive, they'll have to be MP3 or WMA. Apparently, only an iPod can handle Apple's mp4 file format.
