Pioneer Elite BDP-05FD

The Pioneer Elite BDP-05FD ($800) Profile 1.1 Blu-ray player was announced on May 7th along with the Pioneer Elite BDP-51FD ($600) for upcoming release in the Fall 2008. Both players are considered Profile 1.1 compliant and missed the 2.0 designation found on competing models from Sony, Panasonic, and Samsung because of the lack of an Ethernet port and Internet connectivity. Both players can both decode and bitstream high-def audio formats including Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA. The announcement of these players coincides with the release of matching Pioneer Elite receivers such as the Pioneer Elite SC-07.
