The Pioneer Kuro PDP-5020FD is an ultra-thin 50” high-definition plasma television released in mid 2008. It was touted as delivering a level of black depth 5x deeper than previous models from the past year (2007). It delivers 1080p resolution and is able to connect via all modern standards — including HDMI, component, composite, and PC — allowing it to process high-resolution content from Blu-ray discs (external player required), HD digital boxes (set-top required), and computer games (PC required). Most touted about the unit is its Optimum mode, which utilizes a sensor to monitor ambient lightening conditions, after-which it automatically adjusts settings for optimal performance. Additional features include Networked Media Home Gallery for PC/USB playback, a redesigned GUI for easier navigation, and DLNA/Windows-PlaysForSure compatibility.
