November 4, 2008 at 6:13 pm

So, the GNU foundation came out with GFDL 1.3 today, the update to the GNU Free Document Liscence 1.2 that Productwiki currently uses. Strictly speaking, Product wiki is liscensed under the terms of both now, (the site copyright blurb describes it as 'ProductWiki is licensed under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL), Version 1.2 or any later version published by the Free Software Foundation.') The new liscence is alot... cleaner than the old one (i'll have more to say after giving it a better look over) but it includes a notable feature, it allows migration to Creative Commons Liscences. (Stictly speaking the CC-BY-SA liscence). It's all kinda cool and new. Wikipedia is currently thinking about making the switch.

pmacdona commented on Eve Online

October 3, 2008 at 3:27 pm

"Yeah, I can't say enough good things about eve. A story which sums up some (but not all) of the insanity which is eve.

I just love how the whole world is on eve, depending on where you're flying in space, it's a good idea to have a person who speaks german with you, especially if you play early in the morning. The germans are generally very helpful, and many have large alliances(player organizations which control space) which will grant you a degree of safe haven, they also have a few people in their organization who speak english if you need to conduct formal bussiness negotiations with them on a large scale. The reds however... hooo boy, if you don't speak russian you are kill on sight as far as they are concerned. The red alliance controlls a huge hunk of space over to the west side of the galaxy, don't go near it unless you want a fight, and a big one at that. Because of the vast, persistant, and player controlled world, imersion in eve can be incredibly deep."
