The Polk Audio Monitor 40 is a two-way bookshelf loudspeaker that is a member of the special Polk Audio Monitor series. The original series was produced in the mid-1970s and set a high standard for value and performance, making Polk Audio a well known member of the audio community. The Polk Audio Monitor 40 is similiar to the Polk Audio Monitor 30 has a variety of the same features including a 1-inch fabric/polymer composite dynamic balance dome tweeter to add realistic touches to vocals and instruments, a neodymium magnet which is standard in many stereos, a 5 1/4 inch bi-laminate composite dynamic balance driver which is lightweight and stiff for high efficiency, a non-resonant all-MDF enclosure, mylar bypass capacitors for crossovers, dual five-way binding post connectors, choice of black or cherry wood grain finish, titanium face, a critically tuned flared port to minimize port noise, and built-in keyhole wall mounting brackets. The Polk Audio Monitor includes magnetic shielding so that it can be used in close proximity to electronic equipment such as a computer without fear of distortion or damage.
