The Canon PIXMA iP4000 is a mid-range photo printer that focuses on quick printing rates and detailed photographic prints. It uses a total of five different ink cartridges, four colored and one black, and has a maximum print resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi. Drop sizes are very small, at about 2 picoliters, and there are a total 1856 print nozzles. The HP LaserJet M1522nf MFP is a high end multi functionprinter that retails at $400 and was released in 2008. This piece is for small to medium size businesses. It can print, copy, scan and fax. It has an ethernet port, a feature that distinguishes entry level printers from the more advanced ones. It can handle complex files with its 450 Hz processor and 64 MB of internal memory. It can store up to 300 of fax pages (which seems quite low if compared with the 500 pages of the $100 cheaper HP LaserJet M1319f MFP in the same series). It speed of printing pages, at 23 pages mer minute is better than the HP LaserJet M1319f MFP but is the same as the $100 cheaper Brother MFC-7840W. It doesn't have automatic duplex print options (meaning that it can print, copy and san on two sides of a page automatically), which is kind of understandable since this belongs to more advanced printers that come around the $700 range like the Brother MFC-9450CDN

The duty cycle per month for printing is 3000 sheets, or approximately 100 per day. The Canon PIXMA MG5320 is an 802.11n Wi-Fi certified all in one color ink jet printer released in July 2011 along with the PIXMA iP4920 which has a similar design and features save for the wireless capability. These printers feature an update to Canon's Easy Photo Print EX software which brings creative editing to the table with Fun Filter Effects that can be applied to pictures before printing. Effects such as Fish-Eye, Miniature and Toy Camera are included as well as Soft Focus to make an image appear softer, and you can blur specified areas of an image using Blurred Background. Another nice feature is the ability to print directly onto CD's, DVD's and Blu-ray discs. The MG5320 uses the ChromaLife100 + ink system which employs five separate ink tanks and can print a 4" x 6" borderless photo in 20 seconds with a maximum color resolution of 9600 x 2400 dpi. Auto duplex printing is supported (printing on both sides) and a two-way paper feed speeds up the printing process, both of which are time savers in the office. Another upgrade over it's predecessor the MG5220 is the LCD display, which has been moved to the center of the printer and has also increased in size to 3 inches square. PIXMA Cloud Link is an online service for those registered with Canon Image Gateway or Picasa Web Albums which allows the user to print personal documents stored at PIXMA Cloud Link, as well as documents hosted by the above mentioned sites all via WiFi without being connected to a PC. The Brother MFC-9840CDW is a high end multifunction color laser printer, copier, scanner, and fax machine with wired and wireless network capabilities. It is not cheap especially when compared with the rest of the Brotehr MFC printer series, but it's a worth while investment considering its features and quality. Critics noted that setting up this piece was easy, especially the ethernet and usb connection. Setting up wire-less is a litter trickier, but with the help of the user manual can be done without a problem. Its control panel is pretty usable, were three large buttons let users chose between fax, copy and scan. It also has the important duplex feature (nothing groundbreaking since cheaper MFC models have it such as the $693 Brother MFC-9450CDN). This machine was impressive inits performance with reviewers tests with respect to text quality, image printing, and scanning. The copying test didn't fare as well, but was still rated good. This unit offers a couple benefits that the cheaper (and more recently released) $693 Brother MFC-9450CDN doesn't offer, including Wireless 802.11b/g networking, and a larger ADF tray (50 sheets vs. a smaller 35 sheet capacity).

The Lexmark Platinum Pro705 is a wireless, budget-friendly all-in-one business inkjet printer designed for professional-grade printing, copying, and scanning. It’s quite similar to the expensive Platinum Pro905, in that it too offers ultra-fast print and copy speeds, high-resolution scanning, and Draft N wireless connectivity for 3x the range in addition to enhanced data transfer speeds. The one big change though is that this printer trades in its counterpart’s web-enabled touchscreen display in favor of a 2.4” color LCD display and more hard buttons. This lowers its convenience factor, but doesn’t limit it in regards to performance. The one other difference is that its standard ASF input tray only supports 150 versus 300 sheets. Regardless, the Lexmark Prevail Pro705 too has received fairly good reviews, especially in regard to its affordability.

Other than that, the two models share features. One shared feature is the Dell Clear View LED printing technology, which helps to keep the size of the printer down (the printer dimensions are 16.14" x 14.9" x 13.3"). The 1350cnw is a step up from Dell's other 'world's smallest' 1250c personal laser-class LED printer with the same compact design and LAN/Ethernet connection and WiFi capability thrown in. It has exactly the same dimensions as that model as well, an added LCD display on the control panel, slightly better printing speed with a maximum 12 color sheets per minute and input tray capacity of 160 pages. More specifically it holds 150 pages like the 1250c does but has a 10 sheet bypass drawer which is invaluable for placing alternate paper sizes and types into the mix without having to reload the entire input tray. The processor and memory have also been doubled to 384MHz and 128MB respectively, while the LED printing mechanism remains the same, offering faster printing than laser with less energy used. Compatibility with both Mac and Windows platforms and Windows Server 2000/2003 make it a good candidate for a small business or home office printer(see below for included/supported software). The next printer in this category is the 2150cdn color laser printer which features automatic duplexing so you don't have to manually turn the paper around to print on both sides.

The HP LaserJet CM2320nf MFP is a reasonably priced color laser multifunction printer with the ability to color print, color scan, color copy or fax in black and white, and is designed to be used by a large enterprise business. It can print 21 pages per minute at its best quality (600 x 600 dpi) and has a recommended monthly print volume of 1000 to 2500 pages. There are two paper trays standard which can handle 50/250 sheets each, with an optional third tray that can handle an additional 250 sheets. The scanner is a 8.5" x 11.7" flatbed ADF with an optical resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi, and can handle up to 50 sheet from the automatic paper feeder. For copying, it can handle up to 99 copies with a resolution of 600 x 600 dpi, with zoom settings from 25% to 400%. It can fax up to 250 pages at 3 seconds per page, at a resolution of up to 203 x 196 dpi, and has the ability to store up to 120 numbers in speed dial. There are 3 models of this printer available; a base model (no fax), plus two upgraded models with upgraded functionality (see below).

The Canon imageCLASS D420 is a monochrome laser printer and scanner. This is similar to the Canon imageCLASS D550, which has faster print speeds and a slightly larger LCD interface. Operationally they are otherwise the same, connecting through a standard USB 2.0 connection and using a scanner with up to a 9600 dpi sensitivity. Scans can be sent to a computer or printed immediately with a Copy function that allows up to 99 copies at once. In addition to the standard front-loading paper cassette for normal paper a single-sheet multipurpose tray is available for printing on unusually thick papers. Papers of normal thicknesses can be printed on both sides automatically using the built-in duplexer.
