I admit it, I'm a big Transformers geek. I watched the show religiously when I was a kid, and the movie is one of my favorite films of all time. Needless to say I was both apprehensive and hopeful going into this modern incarnation.

Well... I loved it. And this is kind of in dialupinternetuser's face as I actually, honest to God, truly enjoyed it. In fact, it rocks. Really friggin hardcore. Best blockbuster movie of the summer BY FAR. Now there are definitely some parts of the movie stemming from Micheal Bay's bag of tricks that felt way too cheesy/boring. However, overall it was just an awesome movie. The thing I liked about it the most is how they stayed quite true to the cartoon/original movie.

It was serious, but not too serious. I thought they'd make them more like robots instead of Transformers. But no, they made them into full Transformers with their names and personalities and everything. The first time you hear one of them talk is when it really hits home that they're not just misunderstood monsters but real characters that you can deal with on a human level. The movie actually makes fun of being too serious with the name of Megatron.

I guess the reason why its so good is that it really brings the cartoons to life. The story starts off slow but around the half-way mark things get crazy, and keep on getting crazier and crazier until the end. There are still boring parts here and there, but the major action scenes are absolutely insane.

My favorite parts have to be the scenes that were heavily inspired by the animated movie. When Jazz attacks Devastator its exactly like when Cup attacks the tank guy (I forget his name). And Prime's fateful words "One shall stand. One shall fall." Just hearing them in the movie I honestly wanted to stand up and cheer.
