Pullman Tampers are an artisan product as opposed to a mass-produced one. Rather than just coming in off-the-shelf sizes, the bases are machined to the size required for the user's coffee filter basket whenever possible which ensures a very good fit. They are one of the few tampers which provide rings around the side of the base to help keep the tamper level and they are perhaps the only one which provide an oiled wooden handle rather than a varnished handle, which is a bonus in a physically hostile environment as there's no varnish to chip or crack through impact. Each tamper base is measured prior to shipment and gets its own serial number.

Pros
- Tamper can be machined to suit your filter basket, regardless of its size.
- TrueTamp rings help you gauge when the tamper is sitting flat in the basket
- Tampers are hand-assembled from hand-made and measured components, i.e. it's an artisan product, not a generic mass-produced item
- Handles are oiled so the wood won't dry out and there's no varnish to chip or crack
- Stainless steel base much better quality than aluminum competitors, and won't dent or tarnish like brass or copper
