Rage HD
$2.00
Released November, 2010
The Pros:Great price point. SD (standard definition) version available for older iPhones, costs less. Great tease for people waiting for Rage.
The Cons:On-rails gameplay - not a real FPS. Bland colours. Short - only 3 levels.
Rage HD is a first-person shooter designed for the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod Touch 3G, iPod Touch 4G, and the iPad. It was produced by ID, and it’s essentially like a mobile version of Doom. Regardless, the game delivers PSP-comparable graphics with quality voice work, maneuverable controls, and challenging gameplay—which is definitely a first for these mediums.

Just like the PC-game Doom, users travel through dark caverns, pick up booty, and battle mutants galore. Included are stairs, holes in the floor, long corridors, and a bevy of weapons. Perhaps most shocking to most gameplayers is that Rage HD, despite offering Playstation Portable comparable gameplay and graphics, retails at the same budget-friendly price as other iPhone apps.
