Rain-X Original Glass Treatment

Rain-X Original Glass Treatment is a solution designed to improve the visibility through your vehicle's windshield. Apply Rain-X to the exterior glass, and it will repel water, sleet, and snow more effectively than a windshield without any treatment. A study has shown that stopping time in poor weather can be improved by up to one second by applying the glass treatment. The glass treatment is available in a 3.5 oz squeeze bottle and a 16 oz spray bottle for about $4 and $10 respectively. You apply treatment to a clean windshield with a cloth, and for best protection you should reapply every couple of weeks. There is also a windshield washer fluid additive available so you can deposit Rain-X on your windshield with every spritz.

Rain-X only works well in DOWNPOURS. In light to moderate rain, the droplets actually tend to stick to the windshield, and if you apply more (from washer tank) it creates a "smear effect". It's just a gimmick product, stick to conventional washer fluid... unless you live in an area where it rains torrents often..

This product is absolutely amazing for any winshield that is old and really pitted. I notice a big difference when using this on my winshield that has about 200,000km on it (and looks like it has been sandblasted). This stuff coats your glass with a super thin film of water repelling teflon/wax which reduces surface tension and forces the water to bead up and run off quicker increasing visibility!

Been using this for years. Works wonders. Just follow the instructions, and you will be glad you spent the couple-few dollars on it.

This is an incredible product; wouldn't do without it in a wet climate.  You can literally forget about using your wipers in light rain and mist conditions.

I'd disagree on reapplication time; I find I can go several weeks on a single treatment (as many as 8 or 9), though I will admit that the efficacy decreases over time. The instructions are clear and straightforward, and application only takes a few minutes for all windows. Apply with cloth in circular motion, let it set, then polish with papertowel (and a light mist only if necessary).

It's worth further noting that some bathroom-installation specialists recommend the product for all-glass shower and tub enclosures.  I've been using it for 3 years there as well, and must say that an occasional application (every 3 or 4 months) greatly reduces time spent cleaning.
